John L'Ecuyer, MD was raised in the midwest with four siblings. He went to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center for medical school in 1985, and completed his General Psychiatry Residency training at the University of Kansas (KC) in 1993. He joined the doctors at Mental Health Partners, PA in 1993 and moved with colleague Rachael James, PMHNP to join the office of other colleagues in January 2024.
Dr. L'Ecuyer has post-residency training in the following areas: Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, Rogerian Psychotherapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Martial Arts, Buddhist Vipassana Meditation, Neurofeedback for traumatic brain injuries, and treatment of mold inflammatory disease (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome).
He is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has been an active member of the Kansas Medical Society, serving as a Johnson County Delegate from 1996-2006. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Kansas Psychiatric Society, the American Medical Association, the Missouri State Medical Association, the Kansas City Medical Society, the Spiritual Emergence Network, the International Society for Environmentally Acquired Illness, and is a past member of the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons.
While Dr. L'Ecuyer's main focus is in the treatment of adults, he also enjoys seeing children as young as 5 years old. His treatment approach starts with listening to what each patient wants to accomplish. Through collaboration with each patient, he looks for ways to help them work towards their goals. Usually this involves finding ways to reduce intolerable symptoms, both by looking for their source and often by utilizing medications.
Current patients may contact Dr. L'Ecuyer by email at [email protected] for brief questions. For all medication refills, please have your pharmacy send an electronic refill request (this is called "e-prescribe") or a fax refill request to (913)-642-0176.
**Please do not initiate texts or calls to Dr. L'Ecuyer's personal cell phone. He may text or call you from his cell phone, and please do respond in that case, but it is easier for him if patients initiate contact via email (or calling the office for those who are unable to email).
