John L'Ecuyer, M.D. was raised in the midwest with four siblings.  He went to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center for medical school in 1985, and completed his General Psychiatry Residency training at the University of Kansas (K.C.) in 1993, at which point he joined the doctors at Mental Health Partners, P.A.

Dr. L'Ecuyer has post-residency training in the following areas:  Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, Rogerian Psychotherapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Martial Arts, and Buddhist Vipassana Meditation.

He is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and has been an active member of the Kansas Medical Society, serving as a Johnson County Delegate from 1996-2006.  He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons.

While Dr. L'Ecuyer's main focus is in the treatment of adults, he also sees children as young as 5 years old.  His treatment approach starts with listening to what each patient wants to accomplish.  Through collaboration with each patient, he looks for ways to help them work towards their goal.  Usually this involves  finding ways to reduce intolerable symptoms, both by looking for their source and often by utilizing medications.
